corner view // shopping // berlin, germany

jane from spaindaily had the fabulous idea to start corner views - giving us a peek into people's everyday lives and their particular little corner of the world. thank you jane!

go and discover more corners around the world:

here's mine...

yesterday i had a moment when i just couldn't concentrate - no way. probably a mix of claustrophobia (even though i love my little office!) and a severe lack of oxygen. so off i went for a quick shop in the neighbourhood and look what i picked up on my way home: a huge bunch of lilacs, now standing right in front of me in a big vase!

these days many people from the outskirts of berlin and the villages around it come into town to sell lilac from their gardens. just standing outside the train station with nothing but buckets full of flowers and some newspaper to wrap it up in. i love these bits of country life sneaking into the big city every now and again.

p.s.: ... more about shopping in berlin over at my other blog, mostly berlin!

How far did you have to cycle to find that lilac graffiti?

oh! cool!
und die beste idee überhaupt:
wenn's nicht mehr läuft im büro einfach rauszugehen und den kopf zu durchlüften UND BLUMEN ZU KAUFEN!!

At home many people sell their lilac garden too... I live in an apartment and they are bringing nature to me ...it's a very nice photo !

My friend here in Potsdam has the biggest ever lilac tree.
Luckely for me I can take as many as I want. They really brighten up your mood and the room.
And it´s great to meet more bloggers from Berlin through Jane. It gives me a great opportunity to get to know Berlin better.
Liebe Grüsse, Jeannette

dear all, thanks so much! :)

@ ian: i didn't have to cycle far for that grafitti, it's right on my door step... the building hasn't seen a lick of paint since WW2, i reckon, and every era has put its very own stamp on it. it has its charm in a wacky sort of way.

Gorgeous photo! I love lilacs... oh, and the smell! Herrlich!

It seems that one can have quite a different perspective of things when you are the one on the outside looking in, rather than the one on the inside looking in. It is actually sometimes quite strange... I feel as though my whole life I was yearning for the European way of life and I didn't even know it until I moved here.

Your other blog is quite lovely.

Grüße aus dem Norden.
