thank you so much for your comments on my last post - i so relate to saving up for a dream camera: it was a long way for me. i'm a big believer in dreams, they have a way of coming true with time, sometimes when we least expect it.

i went to favourite places in my neighbourhood on that first photo walk with the bronica. what a good feeling to know there is so much to learn, i'm very much looking forward to it.

i'm loving september so far, how about you?

 a perfect day out. thanks, sylee!

venturing out (II)

there is a quiet beauty in things that grow.

venturing out (I)

we left the city late in the morning, to explore, to blow away the cobwebs.

p.s.: finally some signs of life on mostly berlin, too.

the birches

//

being a long-time admirer of the magic geneviève and isabelle work with their zenit cameras, i am now the happy owner of my very own zenit e. it will take a little getting used to, but it already feels like a trusty old friend.

the village (I)

// //

a timeless place, in many ways.

the weekend brought: thunderstorms, heavy downpours, patches of light, skies from palest grey to darkest charcoal, jumping over monster puddles, a new perlagonium, some jars of apricot jam cooling on the kitchen table, a pan of stewed apricots, possibly to be turned into a tarte. and yours?

a first inkling of summer ahead, back in march.

what an entrance

the japanese cherries at the end of the street.

some wild garlic (ramps, or ramson) is sitting on my kitchen counter. looking for ways to cook it, or use it raw. ideas so far: wild garlic pesto or risotto, wild garlic butter. possibly in a vinaigrette, to dress green asparagus with. what do you use it for?

it's madly snowing out there as i type. we also had some rain, some sun and quite a bit of hail today. what an entrance, april.

happy easter!
happy passover!

in the woods

in the woods

i spent a few days with my mother, quiet days with many a walk. the landscape is taking its time turning into spring. little signs everywhere. the palette still muted.

the end of winter

the end of winter
the end of winter

we are at the end of the season, winter is tired, the grass is dried up, so much looks silvery-bleached. i saw it on my last walk along the edges of the big lake, and i saw it on a train trip the other day. in my planters, some tiny green tips are starting to show. no way of telling yet whether they are the bulbs i planted or simply some daredevil weeds.

p.s.: i'm thinking much about pinterest and tumblr, and whether to delete my accounts. for all the known reasons. are you thinking about this too? if so, i'd love to hear, please feel free to send me a message at twinklestar at gmx dot net, i feel as if i'm a bit stuck with my own reasoning.
