on endings and beginnings

konk, berlin

the last few days of january are here. and as the month draws to an end, i'm finding myself, yet again, thinking about endings and beginnings. how come we can't hold time when things are just right, why is it eternally moving forward? it's the basic condition we live in. so we might as well look forward to the next beginning, right? i'm hoping february has a few rays of sunshine in store.

p.s.: my post about konk is up, take a look over at mostly berlin!

p.p.s.: i almost forgot: if you're in london (or near), february will see two exciting events that you may want to check out:
a portfolio review day, organised by the photographer's gallery (apply by february 11, 2011)
a series on japanese cinema since the mid-90s at the ICA

just to say

victoria met albert

just to say thank you for your feed-back on my last post - you are the best, you really are! if you like, you can still suggest images in my flickr as potential poster material, i'd love to hear your thoughts!

oh, and don't you just want one of those paper snowflakes? i saw them at victoria met albert, a new shop in my neighbourhood (they are not currently available but should be soon. guess who's in line for a purchase). more to come, here and over on mostly berlin.

tell me, did you have a good start to your week?

oh pretty

i really like this pair of earrings by friedasophie jewlery design (as seen on frolic) - so pretty! also like their necklaces. a little unusual and really rather wonderful. some of the designs look like fragile little twigs, corals or algae. check out friedasophie's etsy shop and tell me what you think!

corner view // shopping // berlin, germany

jane from spaindaily had the fabulous idea to start corner views - giving us a peek into people's everyday lives and their particular little corner of the world. thank you jane!

go and discover more corners around the world:

here's mine...

yesterday i had a moment when i just couldn't concentrate - no way. probably a mix of claustrophobia (even though i love my little office!) and a severe lack of oxygen. so off i went for a quick shop in the neighbourhood and look what i picked up on my way home: a huge bunch of lilacs, now standing right in front of me in a big vase!

these days many people from the outskirts of berlin and the villages around it come into town to sell lilac from their gardens. just standing outside the train station with nothing but buckets full of flowers and some newspaper to wrap it up in. i love these bits of country life sneaking into the big city every now and again.

p.s.: ... more about shopping in berlin over at my other blog, mostly berlin!
