last weekend

i'm very happy to report the garden is alive and very well. we have so much spinach, lettuce and rocket! i spent a lot of time there on saturday, loosening up the soil, planting and watering, i was limping around with sore muscles on sunday. oh, and i found a good way to cycle there, which takes me an hour each way.

also made some strawberry jam, and tried my hand at baking a simple white loaf from nigel slater's 'appetite'. it turned out huge, and quite pretty. have any of you tried his recipe for olive foccaccia?

what was your weekend like?

Sounds lovely! I miss my garden here in Paris- used to have a small one when living in Holland before, nothing better then preparing some fresh homegrown veggies for dinner! My weekend was good: went to a little jazzfestival in an aweome squatted building and had some drinks along the Seine afterwards - that's the good side of Paris :-) Happy new week to you!

sounds like a blissful weekend. Mine was rather blighted by car breakdown. But I did get to eat delicious pizza and drink chardonnay at a lovely bistro and sepnd some time on my veg garden too.
I love to bake bread, and I have never trid the NS recipe, I'm tempted to give it a go!

strawberry jam...that sounds so good. meine wird aber immer zu süss. benutzt du gelierzucker?
i haven't tried nigel's focaccia. but if you consider other options, the one in giorgio locatelli's 'made in italy' is fantastic (sag bescheid wenn du das rezept willst!)

kristina, all of this sounds just wonderful! i need to get going on planting - i'm so late this year. strawberries, mint, basil, lettuce, tomatoes, it all has to be done. can't wait till late july and august. :-)
