saying thanks
today is thanksgiving, and even though we don't celebrate it here the same way it is celebrated in the u.s. (or even on the same day for that matter), i thought it's a good time to say thanks to all of you for stopping by so often, for leaving me a thought and for always being good company.
thank you, thank you!
i looked at these thanksgiving table decorations and thought how lovely they were. and if you are already in a christmas mood, here are some crisp and light ideas for the season.

Hi Kristina, really love your blog and your sumptuous photos.
I hope you don't mind me asking but do you know how I can change the layout of my blog to enable me to make my photos bigger? My blog is at http://robertread.blogspot.com/
Any tips would be hugely welcome.
Thank you.
Robert
Don't mention it!

thank you for having us my dear!
I've been amazed by how well-known our American custom is in other places. Some people here (I won't name names) get bent out of shape over the Pilgrims, and what they supposedly did or didn't do, when our first national Thanksgiving was actually during the Civil War. It was Lincoln's idea to have a national day of thanksgiving to God, but it didn't go over quite as well in the South. Maybe they took it as rubbing it in, you know, like, hey, you down there, God is blessing us up here, why don't you give up this rebellion thing? Some places down there still don't have much to do with it. Eventually someone thought it would be a good idea to rewrite that script in the interest of national unity, and that is where the Pilgrims came into play. The way the marketing has been done, one would think the US has been Thanksgivinging ever since that Pilgrim picnic 4 centuries ago. Not so, on a national level. But it was a story it was thought the entire nation could appreciate and rally around, and it conveniently predates that horrible, wrenching Civil War era. I'm good with giving thanks to God all day every day, so Thanksgiving to me is a time to think about all that. And appreciate (and thank God for) the wonders of turkey, candied yams, cranberry sauce (homemade! so easy,) and PUMPKIN PIE! Now, on to Christmas...that's another story.... ;-)
lovely, lovely image.
you are more than willkommen, hun.
it's always a vergnügen to read you.
