up the hill
that same saturday, we walked up the hill. it was still cold, but the sun was out and it was ever so still under the trees. we walked past the church peter and paul and had coffee at the log house in nikolskoe. i never knew king frederick wilhelm III. built it in 1819 as a surprise for his daughter charlotte, who, two years previously, had married grand duke nicholas, later nicholas I of russia. when charlotte came to berlin for a visit, her father presented her with the log house "in the russian style". it was in fact an exact copy of a cottage he and his daughter had stayed at in russia when he last went to see her.
i want to go again in summer and sit on the terrace, overlooking the lake.

very pretty, my husband wants to go to berlin this year
i live in frankfurt and one of our favourite day-trip destination is heidelberg. we always go there when we have visitors from abroad. it has a really really beautiful "altstadt" and the view from it's castle is breathtaking.
I really like your b&w!
Oh there aren't the words to tell how much i adore the final photograph, what a perfect moment and light. I'm always in for a treat on your blog Kristina! x
Absolutely lovely! I live in San Francisco and my favorite day trips typically involve the rolling hills of West Marin. It's a beautiful and inspiring area.
Day trips are the best ... I would have to say a day trip to our Hunter Valley Vineyards is always lovely, and anything that involves exploring a new place.
These photographs are so beautiful.
My favourite day trip destination is Malmö: it's 40 minutes from Copenhagen, and the fact that it is not just another city, but another country really makes it feel like I am much further away from home than I actually am.
Beautiful inspiring place!
these are beautiful in black and white.
big hugs kristina!
that 1st image reminds me of the road - have you seen it? amazing cinematography.
One of my favourite daytrip destinations is Auvers-sur-Oise, a one-hour train ride from Paris. I love the fact that you walk almost straight into the poppy fields as soon as you come out of the station, perfect to escape the city-noises every now and then! Lovely snapshots!!
this has to be one of the most beautiful photos, i have ever seen.
xo
ps: the last one. ; )
